I figure I may as well start writing this now while I wait for the RAWs to copy off of my camera. Tonight I went to Weeaboofest 2009 (30th Annual Autumn Japan Festival of Guam). It’s pretty much where a bunch of Japanese people gather a bunch of Chamoros and rape, murder and torture them to commemorate Japan’s occupation of Guam some 70 years ago.

I am of course JOKING, but that joke came to me when I considered the Wikipedia article on Guam, where they spend the beginning of a paragraph talking about the hostile grip Japan had on Guam and then follow it with a single sentence saying that most of Guam’s economy is serving as tourism for the Japanese. Whoever wrote that knew what they were getting at, and I’m sure the humor isn’t lost on them. But I did remember being told stories by my grandma about how some Filipinos who hated each other would put rice bags over their head to hide their identity and then point out their enemies as American sympathizers or whatever to Japanese soldiers and watch them get shot in the streets. Fucked up shit, I know, but umm, Japan Fest isn’t about that, I assure you.

I think I kinda ruined the mood of this post, so umm, happy dance to another entry!
